Sydneyscene in 13th year of publication

 FIRST published in May 1996, Sydneyscene entered its 13th year of continuous publication in May 2008.

With Sydneyscene catching early international attention, editor Larry Rivera was invited in the mid-1990s by a developing New York internet company (later to be known as miningco.com — "We mine the Net so you don't have to" — before becoming About.com, now part of The New York Times Company) to establish, initially, a Sydney-specific website.

This was sydney.miningco.com, a local site which metamorphosed into a Sydney travel site, then expanded to cover all of Australia as goaustralia.about.com, later including New Zealand in its coverage.

Sydneyscene's focus is on Australian cinema (films made in Australia or involving Australian movie people), Sydney theatre productions, and other aspects of the Sydney performing and visual arts scene.
